Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge fame with the stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift was interested in music since a young age. Swift quickly rose up in the ranks, beginning as a child actor and eventually performing in front of a huge crowd. Swift was 11 years old when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match. In the following year Swift began to write songs, and also picked up the guitar. Swift took inspiration from artists who played country music, like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks to come up with original songs which reflected the alienation she felt at the age of 13. Swift was 13 when her parents made the choice to let go of their Pennsylvania farm and move to Hendersonville Tennessee. She could then devote all of her energy to approaching label labels from the country scene in Nashville.
